| Safety Comes First!! |
| Safety Comes First!!
The safety committee would like to remind parents that the circular
drive in front of the school is for buses and deliveries only. The
parking in front of the school is for faculty members
only. We realize that life gets busy or that it takes a second
to drop-off or pick-up your child for early release, but we ask
that you use the gravel drop-off and pick-up areas for these purposes.
The circular loop is very busy during the day with deliveries
for mail, milk, UPS, and buses. The loop is also a fire lane and
needs to be open in case of emergencies. We posted
signs as a reminder for everyone and hope that we can all set a
good example for our children. Thank you in advance for your cooperation..the
Safety Committee. |
| Box
Tops and Campbell 's Soup Labels for Education |
Do
you save your Box Tops and Campbell 's Soup Labels? Did you know
they are one of the easiest ways to fundraise for Marvista? One
Box Top is worth 10 cents, but 50 Box Tops are worth $5! Regular
Campbell 's Labels are worth 1 point but some, like Chicken Noodle
Soup, are worth 5 points! The money we raise with Box Tops for Education
goes to the PTSA to help fund activities for our students and the
points we “bank” with Campbell 's can be used to “buy” materials
for the library for example.
To
start saving, all you need is a pair of scissors! Trim the Box Tops
and Soup Labels down (the closer they're trimmed, the more we save
on shipping costs), collect them in a baggie or envelope, and put
them in the collection barrel in the Main Hall. For Campbell
's Labels we need the Bar Code , not the front label.
For
a complete list of items that carry Box Tops for Education go to:
http://www.boxtops4education.com/Downloads/Global/products.pdf
While
you're there, sign up for the booster club and have access to coupons
and get the Box Tops email that alerts you to specials and extra
ways to save for our school!
And
for a list of items that carry the Campbell 's Labels for Education
go to:
http://www.labelsforeducation.com/pdf/eligible_products.pdf
We
managed to collect $301 this year with Box Tops for Education! Let's
double our goal for next year and go for $600! With Campbell 's
Soup Labels, we banked over 2000 points! Ask Grandma, your neighbors,
anyone you can think of to save for Marvista. Every Box Top and
every Label adds up to making or even better…passing our goal for
next year! Together we can do it! |

Parents,
are you confused as to what forms to fill out each time you go on
a Field Trip? Have you ever told the Teacher that you have
already filled out that form? Well, this page was made to
answer all those questions and we have also added the forms here!

Tuesday, June 10th: Arts
Block Concert & Visual Arts Display at The Cove
This annual event features the fifth and sixth grade bands, orchestras,
and marimba ensembles, as well as artwork from the fifth and sixth
grade visual arts class. Parent volunteers are needed to help with
set up and clean up, and everyone is asked to bring a dozen cookies
to share. Band & orchestra students may wish to bring a folding
music stand from home (if they have one.) Please watch for more
details about this event.
Another announcement:
Do you have an older student who participated in band in past years?
The band program is looking for donations of used band books (Accent
on Achievement Book One, and Essential Elements 2000 Books One and
Two) and of outgrown concert attire (black dress pants, white dress
shirts, black shoes) to be loaned to students who cannot afford
these items. Any donations would be appreciated. These will be loaned
as needed to band students at the schools at which Mrs. Brown teaches.
Please leave donations in the school office for Mrs. Brown/ Band
Program. Thank you!

| Mr.Matthews' fourth
grade students were awarded a classroom achievement certificate
by the King County Department of Natural Resources and Parks Solid
Waste Division and awarded Green Team status. They were recognized
for their outstanding efforts as waste reducers by starting a composting
program. Mr. Matthews' students gave educational presentations about
composting to Marvista's 3rd and 4th grade classes and got them
on board to collect their compostable food scraps after lunch each
day. They are reducing their classrooms' solid waste by 25%. Mrs.
Kim donated a large worm bin, in which the scraps are composted
to be used as fertilizer for Mr. Matthews' class's pioneer
garden. Way to be waste reducers Green Team! |
